Family

Tapestry Home revives and restores faith in the home and community by adopting the model of the First Church as found in the book of Acts. Home groups and house churches pray for and serve neighbors.

The family unit is the most basic element to be sustained, as it is the life and very foundation of all communities. The Tapestry Vision Network offers resources to help families discover God’s direction for them, while helping them center their lifestyles and maintain a central focus on their relationship with Jesus Christ.

With a focal point of providing a network of small groups in a well-knit community, the Tapestry Vision reveals families being woven together through fellowship, education, and empowerment.  As in the other aspects of the Tapestry Vision Network, the focus for families is to live their lives under the guidance of Biblical principles as set forth by our Heavenly Father.

The Purpose

Our purpose, briefly stated, is to set families free.  We seek to free them from the preconceived ideas that “society” declares to be normal and acceptable.  For example, in the Kingdom of God, there is no “keeping up with the Joneses” — just “standing together on His promises”!

Freedom comes to a family when parents can make choices that allow them to exercise their God-given abilities, and raise their children in the sight of the Lord as they choose.  This way, each member of the family has an opportunity to reach their fullest potential, accomplish what God has called them to, and live a successful and peaceful life.

There was a time when families in a community welcomed a new neighbor with a basket of fruit or freshly baked apple pie … when neighborhood block parties were a very frequent thing.  Families today have lost that sense of community, due largely to the many distractions of this world and the overall decline of neighborly communication.

The Plan

Our plan is really simple:  build small groups within local neighborhoods, where neighbors can help sustain one another, and cooperate with one another for the good of the community.  In other words, it’s time to get out of your house and meet your neighbors!

“If there is among you anyone in need, a member of your community … do not be hard hearted or tight fisted toward your needy neighbor.  You should rather open your hand, willingly lending enough to meet the need, whatever it may be.  Give liberally and be ungrudging when you do so, for on this account the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.

Since there will never cease to be some in need on the earth, I therefore command you, open your hand to the poor and needy neighbor in your land.”

—Deuteronomy 15:7-8,10-11 (New Revised Standard)

A Network

The Family Network is the basic community in the world is the family. The Tapestry Vision sees every family as a part of God’s larger family.  Tapestry Network works to support the family through faith and community relationships.

But what does that mean?

Simply put, it means we are all in this together.

Tapestry Home

A home group or home church is more than a group of Believers who meet together—we are a family.

The home group is a small group that meets regularly to build family relationships, encourage, complement, and have regular family-oriented activities and events to strengthen family ties. In addition, each group is encouraged to focus on a community activity or need to build teamwork and impact the larger community. It is also a place where we can read the Word, study the Bible together, pray for each other and our community, sing God’s praise, and share God’s love in a less formal, more filling manner.

The First Church used this model. Since 1975, we’ve seen this model produce over 40 micro churches, full fledged churches, ministries, missions, and non profits. Tapestry plants small groups and help nurture, guide, and grow these groups into something bigger and better.
