The Tapestry in Social Enterprise
The Tapestry Vision seeks to establish a network of "social enterprise communities" that practice the principles of God's kingdom. Society has created a culture of people who are entirely dependent on government subsidies. We desire to shift that culture, and become a nation that will give those in need a hand up ... not a hand out.
The Tapestry Vision seeks to establish support networks and training resources that are firmly established on Kingdom Principles, and make them available to families and individuals in need. The primary purpose is to provide “a hand up” rather than “a hand out”. For those who are unable to cope with the challenges and circumstances they face, be it for physical, mental or emotional reasons, our secondary focus is to assist them through the transition and return to a self-sustaining lifestyle.
Social Enterprise groups in the Tapestry Vision Network seek to restore the obligation of caring for widows, orphans, and the poor, to the rightful guidance of the Kingdom community. Those without spouses, the young without parents, and those who have been displaced, all face uniquely difficult challenges. It is critical to the survival of the community that everyone be taught, encouraged, and made accountable, so that they may stand as a productive individual and citizen.
“External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world.”
James 1:27 (The Amplified Bible)
In order to accomplish this vision, it is necessary to rely on a familiar axiom: “If you don’t work … you don’t eat.” While that may seem harsh to some, it is most definitely scriptural. To that end, we encourage everyone to evaluate their gifts and skill sets. Apply them diligently to your work or career. The result will be a greater degree of success in life, because you will not only become self-sufficient … but you will learn to excel in all things.
Our plan is to work within a network of programs designed to restore a healthier and balanced quality of life, while providing a means for all people to fully realize their God-given potential. This particular endeavor cannot be accomplished by a singular group of people, nor by the mere development of “another program”. It will require the coordination and administration of programs, both independently and in collaboration with other organizations and agencies. We stress the importance of working together in a coordinated effort with similar groups and agencies, in order to achieve the greatest benefit to those served.
“Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.”
